Throughout history…
This tower overlooking the beach at the entrance to Galeria, can you see it? It was built by the Genoese to ensure, above all, the surveillance and defense of the coast. In the past, it symbolized the domination of Balagne by a foreign power. However, it was destroyed during the great Corsican revolution by the shepherds of Niolu, unhappy with the dispossession of their lands.
An agro-pastoral tradition…
As you will surely notice, the spirit of the Corsican mountains is never far away in Galeria. On the edge of the valleys of Falasorma and Marzulinu, Galeria remains attached to its history and traditions, in particular that of the great transhumance and the shepherds of Niolu.
