Bonifacio is a town on the southern tip of the French island of Corsica. It is known for its lively marina and medieval citadel perched on a cliff. The 13th-century Bastion de l’Étendard houses a small museum that traces the town’s history. The 187-step King of Aragon Staircase was carved into the cliff. Located to the southeast of Corsica, the uninhabited Lavezzi Islands form a nature reserve, with their granite rocks and sandy beaches
Bonifacio, located in the far south of Corsica, is the southernmost French commune in metropolitan France.
To the south, the Straits of Bonifacio separate Corsica from Italian Sardinia.
After Porto-Vecchio, it is the second largest town in the far south of Corsica, stretching from Bonifacio to Sari-di-Porto-Vecchio in the north and Monacia-d'Aullène in the west, passing through Figari and its airport.
