Our commitments
We support 2 associations
which protect biodiversity
Because it's time to preserve our environment
1% of cruise sales are donated fairly to these two environmental associations which protect biodiversity.
To create a laboratory of ideas and an experimentation platform serving young people.
Our ambition is to train a generation of young experts in environmental projects, aware of the issues and equipped to face them. For its commitment and dynamism, Mare Vivu was rewarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, and was awarded the “Biodiversity” prize of the Climate Plan in Paris in 2018 , in competition with more than 1,200 projects throughout France and the overseas territories.
His vocation

Created in 2016 on the initiative of two young Corsican students, the Mare Vivu association is based in the heart of the small Cap Corsin village of Pinu. Specializing in the fight against plastic pollution in the Mediterranean, committed to promoting zero waste, raising awareness of energy-climate issues and preserving marine biodiversity, it mobilizes young people eager to provide solutions to the major environmental challenges in the Mediterranean.
The Mare Vivu association
Scientific monitoring of coastal pollution
and support for communitiesProduction of a documentary series to inform elected officials, businesses and citizens on each of these themes
School program dedicated to the plastic issue
Series of conferences, screenings and round tables
Thematic citizen mobilization actions (organized by involving young people we support): fly-tipping, cigarette butts, over-packaging, pollution of waterways, microplastics, etc.
Action Programme Against Plastic Pollution (RIPARU)
-
A new concept of a traveling Forum around the upcycling of plastics collected on the coast: illustrating the plastic issue through concrete and fun means, providing the keys to understanding the real problem to be addressed, highlighting the orders of magnitude and levers of action to be favored, both at the individual and collective level.
Traveling Forum
mobilize and train divers to collect information on the health of underwater ecosystems and reduce the impact
of diving activity on the sites.
Diving Participatory Science Program (PRISERVÀ)
Study and awareness of island populations of elasmobranchs (rays, sharks)
and cetaceans.
Participatory science program on marine macrofauna (INCANTU)
an environmental sailing expedition around Corsica on plastic pollution.
Emblematic
CorSeaCare Mission
Educational marine areas : study and preservation of marine biodiversity
Educ'Action Plastique: study and action against plastic pollution
Environmental education activities (school and extracurricular)
Projects for 2024

A scientific component: since August 2023, the association has been carrying out, in partnership with Marina Luccioni, a doctoral student at Stanford University, a scientific monitoring of the cuttlefish bones present on the Lido de la Marana. The objective of this is to better understand the biology and reproduction of cuttlefish. Indeed, after reproduction these cephalopods die, their bones wash up on the beaches and from these we collect as much data as possible (biometrics, presence of barnacles, traces of ink, etc.).
In 2024 , the association will join the BioLit program to better understand coastal biodiversity through ray capsules, mollusc shells, crustacean remains and other organisms present on the Corsican coast. This data will then be transmitted to the Planète Mer association as well as to the INPN (administered by the Natural History Museum) to enable the updating of species present in Corsica. An awareness component : the association introduces the marine environment to the general public through activities, awareness stands, conferences and also the threats weighing on these fragile environments such as pollution, climate change and invasive species. La Girelle is also present on social networks on which it offers an Ecological Journal of the Mediterranean providing information on environmental news from Corsica and the Mediterranean.
